Journalist in Residence at Abilene (Texas) Christian University

Doug Mendenhall is Journalist in Residence at Abilene (Texas) Christian University and an instructor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. He came to higher education in 2008 after a 26-year professional career with newspapers in Texas, Tennessee and Alabama. Since 2000 he has written a weekly column for the Faith & Values sections of two newspapers, first in Huntsville, Ala., and now in Abilene. Doug and Janet have five children, included two who are adopted. They live in a Friendship House sponsored by Janet’s employer, the local nonprofit Connecting Caring Communities, which works to empower and revitalize struggling neighborhoods.
