Douglas Beal

Partner and Economic Development Leader, The Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

Douglas Beal is a partner at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and leader of its economic development work globally. He is also the creator of BCG's Sustainable Economic Development Assessment, which has been used by many government leaders to help guide their national strategies. SEDA has been featured in The Economist, the Financial Times, Foreign Policy magazine, and other global and domestic publications.

Doug has more than 22 years advising governments, development organizations and corporations in the United States, Russia, Ukraine, and across Asia, Africa and the Middle East on strategies and organizational capabilities. Doug's expertise includes national development strategies, sector cluster development strategies, and enablers of overall economic and socio-economic progress such as education and vocational training, SME development, and labor participation strategies.

Doug, who is currently based in Dubai, also leads BCG's Social Impact work in the region and has supported many global and local NGO's to improve their capabilities.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business, with honors, from Columbia Business School.
