Aging and caregiving expert and teacher

Dr. Amy D’Aprix, MSW, PhD, CSA is an aging, retirement and caregiving expert and a developer of the free Home Instead Senior Care Alzheimer’s CARE Training Program for family caregivers. She is also the author of From Surviving to Thriving - Transforming Your Caregiving Journey and Building the Bonds of Friendship in Mid-Life and Beyond. Dr. D’Aprix’s focus on providing service for seniors and their caregivers started at the State University of New York at Albany, where she concentrated on Aging Studies in both her BS and MSW programs. During her doctoral program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. D’Aprix received a Doctoral Fellowship from the Mandel Alzheimer’s Caregiving Institute. In the academic world, Amy has worked on both the national and international levels, teaching at UNC Chapel Hill School of Social Work, Skidmore College and for the Soros Foundation’s Open Society Institute on topics such as Human Behavior and Aging. Additionally, she is the regional vice president, North America, for the International Federation on Ageing. Dr. D’Aprix’s passion for caregiving is driven both from her professional background as well as her personal experience caring for her own parents for over a decade. Dr. D’Aprix holds the designation of Certified Senior Advisor and is currently on the International Faculty for the Society of Certified Senior Advisors and the Canadian Academy of Senior Advisors.
