Dr. Anika T. Whitfield

Dr. Anika T. Whitfield is a native of Little Rock, AR and a proud graduate of Hall High School. Dr. Whitfield is not only a strong advocate of public schools, she has committed to serving students and parents in the Little Rock School District. After earning a BA in African and African American Studies at Washington University (St. Louis, MO), a BS in Natural Sciences and a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Dr. William M. Scholls College of Podiatric Medicine (Chicago, IL), she decided to take a year off between her residency training at Howard University Hospital (Washington DC) and the Togus VA (Augusta, ME) to serve as a substitute teacher in the LRSD. Dr. Whitfield comes from a long line of public school educators and administrators as well as civil and human rights activists. Dr. Whitfield has been a Volunteer in Public Schools (ViPS) for over two decades. She has served as a mentor, classroom volunteer, tutor, and PTSA President. Currently she is one of the many volunteer, grassroots organizers of Save Our Schools and Grassroots Arkansas (both of Little Rock). Dr. Whitfield is also an ordained Baptist minister who advocates for human rights, equity, justice, and the People's Democracy.
