David Whitesock

David Whitesock is a survivor of the disease of addiction, which has been in remission since 2005. Whitesock is a veteran broadcaster and journalist. While at Leighton Broadcasting in Grand Forks, ND, he was a talk show host, play-by-play announcer and executive producer. His career in broadcasting ended early, due largely to the progression of the disease of addiction. During a life pivot, Whitesock dipped his toe into entrepreneurism and tried to launch a podcasting company in 2005, well before podcasts were mainstream. With that entrepreneurial spirit not so hidden today, David leads the development and execution of Face It TOGETHER'S digital and data strategies. His experience as a web developer and designer drives the vision and process for understanding the application of technology to delivering peer-based addiction management services, capturing meaningful data and demonstrating addiction wellness and the social impact of Face It TOGETHER'S model. In March 2015, David was named a Bush Foundation Fellow. Through the Fellowship, he will improve his executive leadership skills and immerse himself in the digital health, data scientist, and social impact spaces to enhance his leadership and personal growth in these interests. Whitesock earned a bachelor’s degree in history from The University of South Dakota, then went on to earn a joint juris doctorate and master’s degree from South Dakota. David was licensed to practice law in the state of South Dakota in 2013. His personal and professional connection to the legal profession, criminal justice system, and the disease of addiction provides opportunities for David to give presentations and speeches around the country. His 2014 TEDxSiouxFalls talk is an example of his public speaking. Whitesock lives in Vermillion, S.D., with his wife, Marie-Elaine and their beagle, Jefferson. He’s also a board member of VermillionNEXT.
