Minister of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica

Edgar E. Gutierrez-Espeleta is the Minister of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica. Dr. Espeleta is a former Professor at the University of Costa Rica, co-founder of Project State Nation National Council of Rectors in Costa Rica, Development Observatory founder of the University of Costa Rica in 1997 and its director until 2005. He was also Coordinator of Atlas Development Cantonal human, a joint project with UNDP. He has over 30 publications in national and international scientific journals and a book on statistical methods. He has represented the country in the United Nations agencies and regional ministerial forums. He directed the Program for United Nations Environment the first two reports on the state of the environment in Latin America and the Caribbean, the first environmental report Central America, the environmental information portal Latin America and the Caribbean, among many other activities. He also directed the Strategy National Environmental, MINAE-IDB project for Costa Rica in 2005.
