As President of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Michele Nealon, Psy.D. oversees one of the most successful nonprofit professional graduate schools in the nation. Comprised of three campuses in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., and a Branch Campus in Irvine, CA, as well as a robust online program, the institution serves nearly 4,300 students in the fields of psychology, and related behavioral health services. In Fall 2017, TCSPP will open a new campus location in the City of San Diego. With more than 20 degree programs, The Chicago School provides a foundation of knowledge and applied practice grounded in its core values of education, innovation, service and community. As a result of Dr. Nealon’s leadership, The Chicago School continues to earn national recognition for its service to the community. In 2015, the Corporation for National and Community Service named TCSPP's campuses President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, signaling an ongoing commitment to its values. In 2015 alone, nearly 1 million hours of service was provided to communities across the country. The Chicago School was also named as a 2015 Military Friendly School by Victory Media, a designation which honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students, and to ensure their success on campus. And in 2014, the institution was identified as a 2015 Top School by Military Advanced Education, publisher of the Military Advanced Education Guide to Colleges & Universities. In 2014, Dr. Nealon spearheaded the development of a forward-thinking 2015/2020 Strategic Plan to create a new road map for the future of the 37-year-old institution. The plan is aimed at continuing to position The Chicago School as a national leader with a global reach. In 2014, the University launched a Bachelor’s Completion Program in Psychology creating a seamless transition for students into graduate psychology education, and signaling the establishment of the new Undergraduate Studies Division at TCSPP. Dr. Nealon’s distinguished career reflects her dedication to ensuring that underserved populations receive the mental healthcare they need and deserve. She began her career in clinical psychology in Dublin, Ireland, before moving to the United States in 1994, where she worked with adolescents in group homes and foster care for more than six years. In addition, her experience included working in a variety of clinical settings with diverse groups including inpatient, outpatient, community mental health, forensic, and within academic settings. In addition to her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University’s Chicago Campus, Dr. Nealon holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree from University College in Dublin, Ireland. After earning her degree at TCSPP, Dr. Nealon served as faculty member and chair of the Clinical Psy.D. Program before moving to California. In 2006, Dr. Nealon received the institution’s Distinguished Teaching Award in the area of public service teaching, and is an accomplished writer and speaker on a wide range of psychology-related topics.
