Eli B. Silverman is Professor Emeritus at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Graduate Center of City University of New York. He previously served with the U.S. Department of Justice and the National Academy of Public Administration, and was Visiting Exchange Professor at the Police Staff College in Bramshill, Engliand.
He has lectured, consulted, and trained staff at numerous police agencies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia. His areas of expertise include police performance management, community policing, policy analysis, training, integrity controls, Compstat, and crime mapping.
He is the author of NYPD Battles Crime: Innovative Strategies in Policing (1999), The Crime Numbers Game: Management by Manipulation (with John Eterno, 2012), and numerous book chapters and journal articles about policing.
