Elise Garvey

Elise Garvey is co-founder of The Human Trafficking Project.

In May 2007, Elise graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. with her B.A. in Political Science, International Relations, Spanish and European Studies. During her undergraduate work, she focused heavily on international organizations and forced migration issues by working and volunteering for multiple refugee resettlement organizations. After receiving her B.A., she carried out a Fulbright research grant on the response to human trafficking in Ukraine in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration Mission to Ukraine and the International Women's Rights Centre "La Strada - Ukraine." She completed an additional research initiative on the experience of foreign students in Kyiv in light of the recent rise in xenophobic violence in Ukraine; the results of which were included in the latest US Department of State Human Rights Report. Currently, in addition to her role with the Human Trafficking Project, Elise is serving as Program Assistant to the Trafficking Victim Services Program of the International Institute of Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Human Trafficking Project is a New York-based non-profit organization that utilizes art and technology to raise awareness of modern day slavery, connect those working to combat the issue and support trafficking survivors. In addition to Justin and Elise, HTP is currently supported through the skills and written contributions of fourteen individuals who volunteer their time and effort to carry out the mission of the organization.
