Author, Indonesia Etc.: Exploring the Improbable Nation
Elizabeth Pisani is an analyst who researches everything from viruses to corruption. Her latest major project, which resulted in the book Indonesia Etc.: Exploring the Improbable Nation, was based on a 25-year association with the country and a recent journey of travelling 23,000 kilometres by boat, bus and motorbike through its outer reaches.
Pisani holds an MA in Classical Chinese from Oxford and an MSc in Medical Demography and a PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology, both from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has lived in a dozen countries, can flirt at a bar in several languages and is director of Ternyata Ltd., a London-based research consultancy.
