Elizabeth W Boham, MD, MS, RD is a physician and nutritionist who practices Functional Medicine with Dr. Mark Hyman at The Ultrawellness Center in Lenox, MA. Through the functional medicine approach Dr. Boham helps patients restore balance in their bodies, so that they can prevent disease and heal imbalances. She witnesses the power of nutrition every day in her practice and is committed to training other physicians to utilize nutrition in healing. Dr. Boham is on the faculty of the Institute for Functional Medicine and has developed a Functional Nutrition course that is being used to educate physicians and other health professionals worldwide. Dr Boham is an IFM Certified Practitioner as well as Board Certified in Family Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in nutritional biochemistry from Cornell University and her graduate degree and Registered Dietitian from Columbia University.
Dr. Boham joined Dr. Mark Hyman and The UltraWellness Center team in 2007. Prior to that she practiced integrative medicine at Canyon Ranch in Lenox, MA and was a partner with Albany Clinical Nutrition Specialists.
Dr. Boham learned how difficult it can be to navigate through the health-care system, after being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 30. Functional Medicine has helped Dr. Boham to realize how important it is to look at the systems in the body to discover the underlying cause for dysfunction.
Through this functional medicine approach Dr. Boham works with patients to decrease their risk of getting ill, as well as, to nutritionally support their body so that it can heal. She is on the faculty for the Institute for Functional Medicine and has developed and taught a program that is being used to educate doctors worldwide in the power or nutrition. Dr. Boham has published articles and chapters in textbooks and has been interviewed for many articles and television shows including Dr Oz. Through her practice and lecturing, she has helped thousands of people achieve their goals of optimum health and wellness.
