Elsa Chen is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Santa Clara University. Her research is primarily on sentencing and corrections policy, focusing on empirical analysis of prosecutorial and judicial discretion, the implementation and effects of repeat-offender laws, and racial and ethnic disparities in criminal justice outcomes. She teaches courses in public policy, research methods, and American politics.
