Scholar, Educator, Consultant

Emily Bailin Wells is a doctoral candidate at Teachers College, Columbia University and a media literacy consultant and teacher educator with The Media Spot, LLC. Her research interests include using multimodal storytelling, identity exploration, and anti-racist and socially just pedagogies to strengthen and maintain authentically inclusive school communities. Her current research explores how "girls" and "girlhood" are constructed and promoted as part of an all-girls school's institutional identity, and how high school girls in particular understand, navigate, subscribe to and/or resist these dominant narratives of what it means to “be a girl” across the contexts of school and life.
