Director of SETI@home, Research Astronomer at the University of Calfornia

I am a research astronomer at the University of California, Berkeley and the Director of the SETI@home project. In addition to SETI, I study interstellar matter (the gas and dust that lies between the stars) using radio, optical, and space-based ultraviolet telescopes. I have participated in several satellite missions, and am currently Instrument Scientist for the EUV spectrograph aboad the NASA ICON mission to study the interface between the ionized and non-ionized portions of the Earth's atmosphere. In my spare time, I collect and restore vintage computers. I also enjoy bass fishing.
