Eric Ludwig

Former Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, small business owner with his wife, and student at Penn State’s Master of Professional Studies of HRER.

Eric enlisted in the U.S. Navy January 2002. He completed training as a Nuclear Electricians Mate from Balston Spa, NY in March 2004. Eric was selected to participate in the Seaman to Admiral in the 21st Century (STA-21) program and began studying Engineering at The University of Memphis in September of 2005.

Upon receipt of his B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Eric received his commission as a Surface Warfare Officer and accepted orders to the USS McInerney (FFG-8) stationed in Mayport, FL. Eric served as the Information Warfare Officer (IWO) and Communications Officer (COMMO) during two deployments to South America while conducting Counter-Narcotics and Terrorism (CNT) operations. During this time the McInerney served as a test platform for the Unmanned Autonomous Helicopter MQ-8 Fire Scout and made two high-profile drug interceptions on open waters in the Pacific Ocean.

Eric’s second sea tour was served aboard the USS Gettysburg (CG-64) as the Fire Control Officer and Weapons Department Head from to August 2010 to April 2012. The Gettysburg was the Regional Air Defense Command ship during the George H. W. Bush (CVN-77) madden deployment to the Middle East where he and the Air Defense team onboard the Gettysburg conducted a study and provided solutions to increase Naval Air Defense Readiness across the region.

Eric accepted orders in to serve as the Division Officer and Officer Recruiter in the Buffalo, NY area. While recruiting, Eric volunteered and promoted Navy Mission awareness in area schools and throughout the community. Eric separated from the Navy in May of 2014 to spend more time with his family and pursue academic interests.

Eric began his Master’s Program at Penn State in Human Resources and Employment Relations in August of 2014. His anticipated graduation date is May 2016 where he plans on pursuing his PhD in Organizational Behavior.

Eric loves writing about anything and everything that is useful in business and in life. He has a passion for learning and reading anything that is uplifting, inspiring, and relevant to today’s business environment. He loves training future business leaders and developing people’s talent and abilities.

Eric and his family reside in Buffalo, NY where they enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of growing their small business. He has been married to Erin, his best friend and biggest supporter, for over 9 years and together they have two adorable and rambunctious little children; Alexis and Ethan. He is an unapologetic Buffalo Bills fan and does not believe that boneless chicken wings should be a menu item.
