The author is an internationally ranked chess master and arbiter (referee) of major international chess events. He has written over 100 books on chess. Dr. Schiller holds a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Chicago. He has been involved in many political causes and campaigns, including Arianne Huffington's gubernatorial campaign. He resides on the California coast south of San Francisco, where he teaches chess and English language skills at the elementary and middle school level.
