Dr. Warkov co-founded SSAIS.org and spearheaded the movement to address K-12 sexual violence in 2015 three years after her daughter was raped on a Seattle public school field trip. Owing to the inequitable treatment of the victim, she brought a Title IX investigation to the district in 2014. Her work has been featured in The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Slate, Broadly, NPR, EdSource, and numerous other media. She recently co-created and released the comprehensive free educational video+action plan Sexual Harassment: Not in Our School! Prior to this advocacy work, Dr. Warkov received several important awards for her ethnomusicological research on three continents.
