Felipe Munhoz

Felipe Franco Munhoz was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1990. He graduated in Social Communications from the Federal University of Paraná. In 2010, he won a scholarship from Funarte to write -– full time -– the novel Mentiras, his first novel, which is inspired by the works of Philip Roth. It is written entirely on dialogues between three characters: Felipe, Philip and Thaís, Felipe’s mistress. While Felipe and Philip know that a book is happening, Thaís thinks she is a real person. Exploring this field of metafictional dialogues, Franco Munhoz discusses topics such as love, religion and literature. The great Brazilian critic José Castello wrote on O Globo, one of the major newspapers in the country, that Franco Munhoz is a “young talent to be discovered”.
