Fran Moreland Johns

Writer of fiction, nonfiction, assorted good things that catch the eye

Fran Moreland Johns is the author of "Perilous Times: An inside look at abortion before โ€“ and after โ€“ Roe v Wade" (YBK Publishers), a frequent speaker on womenโ€™s rights and committed advocate for reproductive justice. She is also author of the nonfiction "Dying Unafraid" (Synergistic Press), and a longtime warrior for improved care & expanded choice at the end of life. This focus on death-&-dying and abortion keeps her from getting invited to cocktail parties. And leaves time for her other passion: interfaith understanding. She is also working on a short story collection she hopes to publish if she lives long enough. Fran has a BA in Art from Randolph-Macon Woman's College and an MFA in Short Fiction from the University of San Francisco. More significantly, she has three grown children and five flawless grandchildren. A native of Virginia who spent much of her adult life in Atlanta, she now lives in San Francisco with her final husband, writer-editor Bud Johns.
