Flavia Bustreo

Former World Health Organization Assistant Director-General for Family, Women’s and Children’s Health

Dr. Flavia Bustreo is a leading public health professional and advocate for the health and human rights of women, children and adolescents, and for taking action on the social determinants of health including the health impacts of climate change. From 2010-2017, she was the Assistant Director-General for Family, Women's and Children's Health at the World Health Organization, during which time she also served as co-Chair of the Board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (2015-2017). Previously, Dr Bustreo was the Executive Director of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH), and served in a variety of roles at WHO, UNICEF, the World Bank, and as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Norway.
