Blue Ridge Scholar and Echols Scholar at UVA

An Arizona native, Francesca Callicotte is a second year Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia majoring in Sociology and African-American Studies. Francesca is the Advocacy Chair for UFUSED (United for Undergraduate Socioeconomic Diversity), Outreach Chair for Charlottesville Debate League, a research assistant at the Miller Center of Public Affairs, and the Head Debate Coach at Monticello High School. Coming from a working class and minority background, Francesca has a great passion for the rights of low-income individuals and minorities, working closely with the admissions office at her university to create more programming for low-income and first-generation students. She hopes to attend law school in 2019.
