Frederick Hertz is a lawyer, mediator and author who currently practices non-traditional family law and mediation in Oakland, California, focusing on the formation and dissolution of property co-ownership agreements and the resolution of property and financial disputes between siblings, families, spouses and domestic partners, business partners, friends, and unmarried couples. Fred is the author of <em>Legal Affairs: Essential Advice for Same-Sex Couples</em> (Owl Books 1998) and co-author of three Nolo Press books: <em>A Legal Guide for Lesbian and Gay Couple</em>; <em>Living Together: A Legal Guide for Unmarried Couples</em>; and <em>Making it Legal: A Guide to Same-Sex Marriage, Domestic Partnerships & Civil Unions</em>.
