Frederick Hertz is a lawyer, mediator and author who currently practices non-traditional family law and mediation in Oakland, California, focusing on the formation and dissolution of property co-ownership agreements and the resolution of property and financial disputes between siblings, families, spouses and domestic partners, business partners, friends, and unmarried couples. Fred is the author of Legal Affairs: Essential Advice for Same-Sex Couples (Owl Books 1998) and co-author of three Nolo Press books: A Legal Guide for Lesbian and Gay Couple; Living Together: A Legal Guide for Unmarried Couples; and Making it Legal: A Guide to Same-Sex Marriage, Domestic Partnerships & Civil Unions.
