Gary A. Officer currently serves as the President and CEO at Senior Services America, Inc. Officer previously served as Senior Vice President at the Newseum and Vice President of Global Engagement and Chief Development Officer at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars. Officer has served as the President and CEO of Rebuilding Together, Inc., the nation’s largest homeownership preservation nonprofit, and fourth largest remodeler. Within seven years, he grew Rebuilding Together from an operating budget of $3.5 million to $21 million dollars, placing more than $300 million of public and private capital to support community revitalization projects. Officer previously led the Associated Black Charities, a Baltimore-based regional philanthropic organization. He has also served as president of the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF), which supports the development of credit unions in the United States. During his tenure at NCUF, Officer grew a $370 million community investment fund that provided secondary capital, grants and loans to credit unions and related organizations in the United States and around the world. Officer earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in political science from the Manchester Metropolitan University, England, in 1988 and a Master of Science in economics and international relations from the London School of Economics in 1990. In 2012, Officer completed the advanced management program at the Said Business School at Oxford University.
