Gary Commins

Episcopal priest whose ministry has focused on urban, diverse populations and who writes about spirituality and activism.

Gary Commins is the Rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Long Beach, CA. Most of his ministry has been spent in urban congregations. He has been national board chair of the Episcopal Service Corps and the Episcopal Peace Fellowship. In his writings, he focuses on spirituality, activism, and diversity. He received an honorary doctorate from the Church Divinity School in 2001. His third book, If Only We Could See: Mystical Vision and Social Transformation, will be published later this year.
