Gary Weitzman, DVM
CEO, Washington Animal Rescue League
Dr. Gary Weitzman was appointed director of the Washington Animal Rescue League's Medical Center in 2004 and became the president and CEO in 2008. During his tenure, the League has become a nationally recognized leader in physical and behavioral rehabilitation, especially for animals involved in large-scale rescues from disasters, puppy mills, hoarders, and the like. Dr. Weitzman is also co-host of "The Animal House," National Public Radio's weekly show devoted to animals, and the chair of the D.C. Board of Veterinary Medicine.
