Gayle Kirshenbaum

Brooklyn mom, freelance writer and editor, founding member of Hand in Hand: The Domestic Employers Network.

I helped found Hand in Hand after feeling confused about how to be a fair employer in my own home. We work in partnership with the National Domestic Workers Alliance to raise labor standards and build cultural respect for domestic workers, as well as to make care and support in the home more accessible and affordable for all who need it. As a freelance writer, my work has appeared in Newsweek, The New York Daily News, The Huffington Post, Ms., George, The New York Times, and Tikkun. My articles, essays, and reviews have addressed motherhood, labor rights, reproductive rights, economic inequality, and Jewish identity.
