Gene is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker.  His photo series, “Young, Rural and Transgender”, was the basis for the short documentary film "Passing Ellenville" which premiered at Seattle International Film Festival, won Best Documentary at the Williamsburg Film Festival and was selected to screen on Alaska Airlines.  The follow-up short film "All About Amy” screened internationally and won Best Short Documentary at the Woodstock Film Festival in 2015. The documentary project "Ellenville" about two transgender Millennials is now in its 5th year of filming.
