Gene Lewit joined the Packard Foundation in 1991. He is currently Program Officer and Manager in the Children, Families, and Communities (CFC) Program. Gene manages the Foundation’s efforts to bring health insurance to all children. Prior to joining the Foundation, he was associate professor of medicine and community medicine, New Jersey Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and, until recently, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Gene has a bachelor’s degree from City College of New York and a Ph.D. in economics from City University of New York.
