16-year-old social entrepreneur from Chicago
Genevieve Liu is currently a junior at the University of Chicago Laboratory High School. In 2013, when she was only 13 years old, her father drowned saving two boys in Lake Michigan. Months later, Genevieve’s grief and father’s inspiration catalyzed her creation of SLAP’D -- Surviving Life After A Parent Dies, the first online social network for teens who have lost a parent. Since SLAP’D’s inception around two years ago, it has trafficked thousands of grieving teens as well as harbored a myriad of national media. You can visit SLAP'D at: www.slapd.com. You can also visit Genevieve's personal site at: genevieveliu.com.
