Director of the Young Writers Project (YWP)

Geoffrey Gevalt is director of the Young Writers Project (YWP), an independent Vermont nonprofit that engages students to write, helps them improve and publishes their best work online, in newspapers, on stage and on radio. YWP works with thousands of youths and hundreds of teachers each year with work focused in civil digital communities he created such as youngwritersproject.org. Gevalt worked for 33 years as a journalist, mostly in newspapers; his writing and work he edited have won numerous awards including the George Polk Award. For two years, Gevalt was a juror for the Pulitzer Prize in Beat Reporting. Gevalt lives in Hinesburg, VT.
