George F. McHendry, Jr. is a Ph.D. Student and Graduate Teaching Fellow in the Department of Communication at the University of Utah. His research focuses on the overlap of church and state, political communication, and political philosophy in contemporary political culture. His M.A. thesis analyzed the way George W. Bush’s war rhetoric called America to be a chosen nation amid large cultural and philosophical changes that challenge conservative Christian beliefs. Mr. McHendry has had research competitively selected for presentation at national and regional communication conferences. He has taught courses in Public Speaking, Argument and Persuasion, Women and Communication, and Language and Society. Mr. McHendry is a Colorado native and received a B.A. in Communication from Ripon College, Ripon, WI, and a M.A. in Speech Communication from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO.
