George T. Haley
George T. Haley (PhD, University of Texas at Austin) is Professor of Marketing and University Research Scholar at the University of New Haven and founding Director of the Center for International Industry Competitiveness (CIIC). The CIIC focuses on manufacturing companies in global environments. George blogs on business, manufacturing and international topics. He has lived, worked and researched around the world including in Mexico, Singapore, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Finland, India, New Zealand and the USA.
George has over 150 publications and presentations, including The Chinese Tao of Business: The Logic of Successful Business Strategy, recommended by the Wall Street Journal as the only book on Asian business to buy, and New Asian Emperors: The Overseas Chinese, their Strategies and Competitive Advantages, named “an important study” by the Economist. His latest book on trade with China and effects on global industry (with Oxford University Press) is Subsidies to Chinese Industry: State Capitalism, Business Strategy and Trade Policy. His research has been profiled in major media including the Economist, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Time Magazine, Los Angeles Times, CNN, Fortune, Entrepreneur, Christian Science Monitor, USA Today, Voice of America, Industry Week, Investor’s Business Daily, Marketing News and Advertising Age.
George has conducted seminars for the National Intelligence Council/CIA, the United States International Trade Commission, and testified before the Congressionally mandated US-China Economic and Security Review Commission. He consults with businesses and governments around the world. In 2009, the American Marketing Association's flagship publication Marketing News named him as one of six “Marketing Academics to Watch” based on his research, teaching and impact; in 2010 he was named a Hero Advocate by AmericanMadeHeroes.com for his work on behalf of American manufacturers.
