I have spent my life studying human nature and conduct. This led me to teach what is known as the integrated liberal studies on the high school and college levels. Teaching is selling. Unfortunately. most of the teachers I have met can't sell their students the value of learning. In our culture, salespeople teach us to buy such things as (1) alcoholic beverages, (2) unhealthy foods, (3) sugary drinks, etc. Salespeople can teach us to buy their products and services, and make a great deal of money.
