Haroon Mokhtarzada is a technology entrepreneur, originally from Afghanistan and raised in the Washington, D.C. area. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics in 2001 from the University of Maryland, College Park. Along with his two brothers, he created and launched Freewebs.com, a free, do-it-yourself website building tool. Haroon then attended Harvard Law School from 2002-2005 while continuing to bootstrap and grow Freewebs with his brothers on the side. After earning his J.D., Haroon turned down a legal career to become the full-time CEO of Freewebs and raised $12 million in venture capital funding in 2006. The site was later renamed to Webs.com and today over 50 million people have created websites on the platform.
