Rane Rhoden

Lorane Rhoden or “Rane” as known in the Electronic Media was born on February 13, 1987 and grew up in the City of Kingston Jamaica. Growing up, Rane enjoyed going out with friends, shopping and always trying her best at different things creatively. Rane attended the Meadowbrook Prep School where she received numerous awards for Arts and Craft. She then went on to The Queens High School in Jamaica where she her main focus was The Sciences with hopes of becoming a Medical Doctor. Fate would have it that during a Career Day in the final year of High School she blindly picked “Journalist” form a basket of careers without knowing that this would be her path. In 2007, Rane enrolled at The University of the West Indies where she majored in Language, Communication and Society which was a course heavy in Linguistics but also comprised of all the relevant fields in Communications such as: Event Planning, Marketing, Creative Writing and Public Relations. In 2011 she left The University of The West Indies and was working in Sales a few months later. While at work she would dream of working at one of the major Fashion Magazines in New York but knew that would not be possible by living in Jamaica. With the encouragement of her friends and her passion for writing she started Haute People, which is a Lifestyle Blog that focuses on things related to Fashion, Entertainment and Beauty both locally and internationally. With just 20,000 page views Haute People received a Blogger Partnership with Hairtrade which is an online Beauty and Cosmetics store in the U.K. Months later Rane became a contributor for Lucky Magazines’ online community in the U.S, E.C.C.O Magazine Jamaica, and Pepsi Tumblr Blog U.S.A In December of 2012, Rane was nominated for Best Lifestyle Blog and Best Fashion and Beauty Blog at The Jamaica Blog Awards which is her greatest accomplishment yet.
