Hazel Wong

Director of Conservation Campaigns, The Nature Conservancy

Hazel Wong is the Director of Conservation Campaigns, a division within External Affairs at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) charged with generating conservation funding by placing measures on the ballot in states through the initiative or referendum process. Her 10 year tenure at TNC has resulted in $3.5 billion in public funding created to protect land, water and wildlife. She has a proven track record of working with TNC state chapters and their partners to build effective and winning coalitions. Hazel has over 13 years of experience working on candidate, legislative and ballot campaigns. She is adept at using public opinion research, strategic message development and political campaign tactics, to create a groundswell of public support for conservation funding and policy initiatives.

Hazel has been on the forefront of researching how to engage communities of color in conservation and advocating for more diverse representation in the conservation community.
She has participated as a speaker and panelist in roundtables addressing diversity and conservation and is an outspoken advocate on diversifying the conservation community.
