Heather Cox Richardson is Professor of History, University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
She is the author of four books on the Republican Party, including The Death of Reconstruction, West from Appomattox, and most recently, Wounded Knee: Party Politics and the Road to an American Massacre; all three were selected by the History Book Club.
She is currently writing a history of the Republican Party from 1854 to the present.
