Hédi A. Jaouad, a native of Tunisia, is professor of foreign language and literature at Skidmore College and is founder and editor of CELAAN, a journal of literature and arts of north Africa. He has published two books in French, Fugues de Barbarie: Les Écrivains Maghrébins et le Surréalisme and Rimbaud et l'Algerie. He is currently working on a book about Robert Browning and the East.
