Helen Rogan is a writer and editor who has worked at many magazines, including New York Woman, Harper's and Hallmark, and written for publications from The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal to The New Republic and Slate. Currently her favorite topics are New York City and gardening. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband Alfred Gingold, son Toby and dog George, all of whom contribute in their various ways to the life of the family's tiny garden. Alfred makes festive drinks and admires blooms when requested; Toby tries to keep his basketball out of the flowerbeds; and George hurtles after squirrels, digs pointless holes and falls into the fishpond.
