Journalist

Throughout her journey to become an international reporter, Irum has worked as a journalist for local newspapers in Metro Detroit, studied at one of the highest-rated journalism schools in the nation, and traveled abroad for photojournalism and documentary mini-series projects. Her work has been widely received, earning her awards and distinguished opportunities to showcase her learned skills. In October 2015, she was granted the 'Art of Seeing' photojournalism fellowship to Istanbul and worked alongside renown travel photographer Peter Sanders. As a Muslim-American Pakistani, her passion for storytelling is rooted in a desire to raise awareness of societal and cultural injustices in light of combatting them. As an aspiring journalist, she says that every good story lies right outside of one's comfort zone and within the right questions.
