Isaac Shapiro

Isaac Shapiro returned to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities in January 2015, adding to nearly two decades of prior work at the Center. His research focuses primarily on the working poor, income distribution, and tax and budget issues.

Shapiro is the founder of the International Budget Partnership. He previously worked at the Economic Policy Institute. He also has served as a senior adviser at the Save Darfur Coalition, and as a special assistant to U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich and to a Member of Congress.

Shapiro is the author of numerous reports, articles, and op-ed pieces, and is the co-author of two books: Working But Poor: America’s Contradiction, and Protecting American Workers. He is also the editor of A Guide to Budget Work for NGOs.

Shapiro has an M.P.P. from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a B.A. from Washington University.
