Jack Chellman is a Jefferson Scholar entering his fourth year at the University of Virginia. Majoring in Political & Social Thought and Creative Fiction Writing, Jack has served as the President of UVA's Queer Student Union and the President of the Jefferson Literary & Debating Society. He is the recipient of a Harrison Undergraduate Research Award for creative writing and two Jefferson Trust grants for archival work and LGBTQ literary publication. He is also a member of the Minority Rights Coalition, a Raven Fellow through the University's Raven Society, and an English department Wagenheim Scholar. Jack is writing his thesis on the linguistics of James Joyce's "Finnegans Wake" and plans to pursue a degree in Journalism.
