Jaimal Yogis

JAIMAL YOGIS became obsessed with the ocean when his father, an Air Force Colonel and surfer, was stationed on the Azorean islands. When the family moved to landlocked Sacramento, Jaimal ran away to Hawaii to follow his lifelong dream of surfing around the globe. From there (though he had to smooth things over with his family), Jaimal never stopped traveling and exploring. His first decade of adventures -- from Buddhist monasteries to snow-covered beaches -- is the subject of Saltwater Buddha, his memoir currently being adapted into a film. One of the adventures was attending Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, and Jaimal’s award-winning articles and photos have since appeared in ESPN Magazine, The Washington Post, The Surfers Journal, Afar Magazine, Gizmodo, San Francisco Magazine and many others. Jaimal’s next book, The Fear Project, is due out from Rodale in January, 2013. Jaimal is also a Surf for Life team-rider and donates a percentage of all his books to Surf for Life’s school-building programs around the globe.
