Clinical psychologist; research parapsychologist; author, <i>First Sight: ESP and Parapsychology in Everyday Life</i>

Dr. Jim Carpenter is both a clinical psychologist and a research psychologist/parapsychologist. He is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology, ABPP, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Clinical Psychology, and is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He has been active in the governance of several professional societies, and carries on an active private practice

Dr. Carpenter has published widely in psychology and parapsychology, with over 100 research articles, book chapters and more popularly-oriented pieces. For many years he has provided pro bono clinical consultation for persons who seek help with experiences that they think of as psychic. He recently published a book developing a theory of psi, called First Sight: ESP and Parapsychology in Everyday Life (http://www.firstsightbook.com/).
