Jamie Nestrick

Jamie Nestrick is a 30-something writer and passionate Foster Care Advocate who blogs and dwells in the heart of Florida. Originally from Texas, Jamie wanted to be a foster parent from the time she was eight years old.

Jamie is the creative mind behind two popular blogs, Starfish Confidential (www.StarfishConfidential.com) and The Foster Mom’s Guide to Central Florida (www.FosterMomCFL.com). Additionally, she is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) who specializes in the unique tax situations facing foster/ adoptive parents and bloggers.

A US Navy veteran (and rabid hockey fan), Jamie met her husband after a hockey game while they were both serving in the Nuclear Reactor Department onboard the USS Harry S Truman. She and her husband are avid sailors and were married aboard a 76-year-old wooden two-masted sailing ship – they have been happily married for over a decade. After struggling with infertility, the couple were led to become foster parents and know that their journey is evidence that everything happens for a reason.

Jamie is the proud step/foster/adoptive mother of three beautiful toddlers adopted from foster care, three awesome stepchildren, and five fur babies. Still an active foster home, her family continues to joyfully and prayerfully welcome temporary or long-term additions to their three-ring traveling circus.
