Jamie Starr

Lawyer, writer, native Colorado ski bum

Jamie Starr is a Denver based lawyer, writer, and ski bum who was born and raised in Crested Butte, a mountain-bound coal mining community (population: 1,500) that now holds the distinction of “Colorado’s last great ski town.” After attending the Crested Butte [ski] Academy for high school where he was a nationally ranked ski racer, Jamie ventured down the mountain to Boulder where he graduated from the University of Colorado twice––round one earned him an economics degree, with distinction, in ‘02, and round two a law degree in ‘06. While attending law school, Jamie specialized in natural resources law, serving as an editor for the Colorado Journal of International Environmental Law and Policy, and interning with both the National Wildlife Federation’s Rocky Mountain Natural Resource Center and with the Boulder office of Western Resource Advocates, a non-profit environmental law and policy organization that works with natural resources issues in the American West.

As a writer, Jamie has held positions as Managing Editor for renowned lifestyle / trend spotting blog JoshSpear.com and as an editor for Aspen, CO based winter lifestyle publication SNOW Magazine. Jamie has worked as a lawyer in Colorado, both in private practice and as corporate counsel. A self-professed foodie, Jamie dabbles in the kitchen as an amateur chef, and enjoys traveling internationally to expand his culinary lexicon. During the snowy months, you’ll find Jamie scouring the Colorado Rockies (and beyond) for the perfect powder turn.
