Those 70Candles women!

Jane Giddan, M.A., Professor Emerita of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toledo Health Sciences Center, is a retired speech-language pathologist who has specialized in language development and disorders and is co-author of numerous articles and books regarding autism and communication in child mental health. She lives in the Dallas area with her husband Norman, and is mother of two and grandmother of three. Ellen Cole, PhD, is Professor of Psychology at the Sage Colleges in Albany, NY, and Professor of Psychology Emerita from Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. With Mary Gergen, she co-edited Retiring But Not Shy: Feminist Psychologists Create their Post-Careers (Taos Institute, 2012) She resides in Albany with her husband Doug North, and is mother of four and grandmother of ten. Pals since childhood, Ellen and Jane have created a blog at 70candles.com and have conducted a series of “conversation groups” throughout the U.S. for women in their 70’s. They have written the book 70Candles! Women Thriving in Their 8th Decade (Taosinstitute.net/70candles), about this incredibly rich era in women’s lives, and 70Candles Gatherings A Leader’s Guide (Amazon.com) to help those wishing to start their own 70Candles! discussion groups.
