Janet Weinberg was the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) and currently is providing strategic consultation to non-profits.
Ms. Weinberg is a recognized leader in the health, social justice and fundraising fields for over 30 years. AT GMHC she directed the day-to-day operations overseeing direct health care services, HIV prevention and testing interventions, education, research, advocacy and public policy development.
Ms. Weinberg was previously the Senior Managing Director of Development and Legislative Funding at GMHC. Her duties included public and private solicitation of funds. One of her noteworthy successes was obtaining the organization's first-ever federal appropriation of $300,000, which provides much-needed support for crystal methamphetamine programming. Before joining GMHC in 2005, Ms. Weinberg was the Director of Development at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. Prior to her work in the AIDS and LGBT social justice movements, she practiced as an occupational therapist, which included managing over 1,000 therapists who worked in a range of settings.
