Jason Hillman

writer/speaker/photographer/advocate stationed in the Midwest

Laid low in the economic collapse, Jason Hillman segued from a life in corporate retail to one as an award winning writer, comic, actor, and advocate for those with mental illness. He has performed across the country from backyard bayous to frat boy basements and everything in between and can't understate the comforting familiarity of a gas station fruit cup. He is an outspoken national advocate for the rights of those with mental illness, working as an advocate for NAMI Milwaukee and touring the country with Pieces, In My Own Voice, a play that addresses the realities of those living with a mental illness and has been proven to reduce stigma. He also works with local and state police forces to reduce incidents of violence and force when handling cases where mental illness is at play. It's a really odd balance.
