J.B. Poersch is a Managing Director in the Washington, DC office. Poersch works on SKDK’s political, corporate and advocacy clients.
Praised by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) as a “brilliant strategist,” Poersch served as Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) from 2005-2010, during which time he helped lead Democrats to a takeover of the Senate in 2006, achieve a 60 vote super majority in 2008 and retain the majority in 2010.
Managing a $150 million party committee for six years, Poersch helped elect 20 new senators and played a critical role in ensuring success in many Senate incumbent races.
J.B. served as Washington Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Jack Reed (D-RI) from 1990-1996 and then U.S. Senator Reed from 1996-2004. In addition, Poersch has served in a variety of campaign management roles, including Reed’s winning Senate race in 1996.
Poersch is a native of Schenectady, New York and a graduate of Providence College. A resident of Alexandria, VA, J.B. is married with two children.
